Shobeir's Fight in The Parliament

Egyptian Chronicles - Sun, 2010-02-28 00:38 By
Here is what proves that the NDP includes all the scum in the country, this video below was filmed through a mobile phone camera in the parliament during the feud between MP Ahmed Shobeir and a MP from the Muslim brotherhood that reached to the level of smears and assault attempt from Shobeir's side of course.
The MB MP was accusing Shobeir of playing a suspicious role in Tanta flex strike crisis for the favor of the Saudi investor , he only told him that his role was suspicious and suddenly he found himself in front of a mad man calling him all kind of names jumping over the table in order to attack him physically. MP Hamden Sabhi saved the day by standing between them.

The High Dam : A Bless Or A Curse

Egyptian Chronicles - Wed, 2010-02-17 00:33 By

Hopefully insh Allah this will not be the last post about the high dam jubilee

Last January 15th 2010 Egypt has celebrated the jubilee of launching the high dam aka Aswan Dam construction in 1960. Unfortunately we did not celebrate it as it should because of the heavy rains that hit Aswan. We were supposed to have more celebrations especially that three countries are participating in the event : Egypt , Russia "for its huge support" and Syria 'as we were one country then'. It is great anniversary for sure and it is sad that younger generations do not know or understand its importance or its controversy.  read more »

Old Retweets won't Die

Not Green Data - Fri, 2010-01-22 13:22 By Tarek
Why do we retweet our friend's tweets? Do we really retweet them because they are valuable, and we want to share them with others? Ok, this is one possibility, but in fact, the real motive behind retweeting a post is that we find it valuable, so we attach our names to it, and wait for others to retweet our retweet with our names attached to it. It's the ego-factor that drives us her, and not just the love of sharing good stuff with others.

Such scenario worked really fine with the old manual retweeting system, but now with the new retweeting button, our names are removed from the heart of the tweets, and are replaced with a tiny picture at the bottom of the tweet, that no one cares to look at or click on it.

Automatically populating YouTube playlist upon new Embedded Video Field submission

There's a module for that! - Sun, 2009-12-13 22:19 By karim

Here's a little action I wrote recently, to automatically populate a specific YouTube playlist as new videos are being posted to a Drupal site, using modules Trigger or Rules. The same concept can also be used retroactively on existing content, using Views Bulk Operations: select all existing video nodes and apply the action to them.

It's not a Football match for God's Sake

Not Green Data - Sun, 2009-11-22 08:57 By Tarek
During the early days of the internet, the Egyptians were surprised to know that people living in Europe and the US believe that we live in tents and travel by camels. I am sure that the internet has helped western people now to be more reasonable and they only need few strokes on their keyboards to know that we started using cars more then one hundred years ago, and that we have multi-thousands years old buildings.

The "Hala Mustafa" case uncovers the hypocrisy of the Egyptian media establishment

The Traveller Within - Tue, 2009-09-29 18:34 By Mo-ha-med

Here's how the story goes: Hala Mustafa, long time journalist and editor-in-chief of the 'Democracy' review issued by Al-Ahram - the chief government mouthpiece - meets with the Israeli ambassador, Shalom Cohen (can his name be any more caricaturally Israeli?:) for a routine discussion - about organising a panel discussion with Egyptian and Israeli academics, on the peace process or what have you. A routine, organisational meeting.
