Alone in Little Arabia - Sun, 2008-05-11 16:58 By Amira
Yesterday was amazing. I haven't been to a protest since the one when George Bush came to town. It was hot, very hot but the turn out in all honesty was a disapointment...I was expecting many ore people.
Anyway, after waiting at Temple station for about an hour we finally got moving. We moved to the front of the march and bumped into a fellow 'bloggeress'. While we were standing there a few cars beeped in support of us - one in particular was obviously an Arab driver of someone quite wealthy, driving a Bentley and he waved at us while Karim hooted back at him :)
The chants were cool, my personal favourite was "In our thousands, in our millions, we are all Palestinians" - although after a discussion with Fatima's sister (known in the blogging sphere as Little Sis) we think we may have misheard it and that it was "we suport the Palestinians". Lol there we were chanting the wrong thing :D
We marched past Big Ben, past Downing Street and into Trafalgar Sq under the watchful gaze of Nelson up on his column. There we listened to speeches by George Galloway, Tony Benn but to name a few.
I stupidly left my camera at home but to see photos of the protest click here and here.
